Since 2002, Karen Townsend has been dedicated to providing professional bodywork grounded in kindness and appreciation for each person’s unique experience and expression of being in a body. She blends her knowledge, experience, and training in therapeutic massage, shiatsu, Thai Yoga Bodywork, and H.A.R.T. Method Maya Abdominal Therapy to promote holistic well being that extends beyond the treatment room. She views the work she does as part of creating communities and economies that are rooted in holistic well-being, acknowledging and honoring historical and cultural trauma from the past and present with the goal of creating a healthier and more loving path forward. She loves helping clients connect deeper with themselves and support them with their goals including overall well-being, men’s health, fertility, pregnancy and postpartum support, pain relief, prostate and urinary health, injury rehabilitation, increased mobility, body awareness, relaxation, and spiritual rejuvenation. She loves working with all different types of bodies including trans bodies, large framed bodies, pregnant bodies, IBPOC bodies, and bodies of varying abilities. She is grateful to all her teachers, including her clients, for guiding her to see what profound change is possible with skillful touch, deep listening, and an open heart.
